August 16, 2012-Thursday

August 16, 2012 –Thursday

I got up right around 6am, thank goodness, cause it’s usually 3 or 4 every morning. I tried to get Brian out of bed as soon as I got up, but he moaned and groaned, so I went and weighed, and then made coffee.

The scale said 231.4 today, which is a 1.5 pound difference from Tuesday morning. I knew I had lost some weight, I just felt it, so I was glad when the scale confirmed it.

I yelled at Brian from the kitchen, and I could hear him complaining from the bedroom, but he eventually shuffled himself  into the living room, and plopped down in his chair, content with his coffee.

I posted my blog,  and got on Facebook for a while, until 7:20, and then jumped in the shower. We rushed, got dressed, fed the cats and dogs, gathered everything together, and were out the door by 7:52am. We couldn’t find Charlie, he had run off with the neighbors’ dog somewhere hunting. We usually chain  him up every morning, so he won’t chase cars, but sometimes he runs away before we can chain him up.

We really need a fence, and I really want one of those metal fences to go all the way around our property. Those things cost like 7000 dollars just for the material, not to mention the installation, so we won’t be getting one of those any time soon. Soon enough, but not too soon.

We left for work, and on the way to work, as we came upon Shady Grove Baptist, we saw fire trucks and a lot of cars. As we passed it, we saw that the parsonage had burned down. Brian and I both felt sad for them, and discussed anything we could do to help. We are hoping they will announce something in church on Sunday. Churches are always good about supporting each other and those in need, and are always informed and organized about what needs to be done.

We got to work, and Mama was already gone to a tower, and Daddy was preparing to climb this one out here at Holly Ridge. The phones immediately began ringing off the hook, Brian grabbing one and me the other.

This went on for the next 2  hours, and then I went outside to see how Mama and Daddy were doing outside. Uncle Jay finished what he was doing, and then went to see what else he could do in Rayville.

I played gopher for water and wireless cards, and then Mama got me to dismantle an antenna for her, so I took apart my first antenna today.  About that time, the mail showed up, and Brian’s hat came in, and he was so excited, but every time he went to open the box, the phone would ring, but when he did, he was so happy with his hat, I had to take a picture and post  the ugly thing.

By this time, it was almost 11 oclock, and I was starving todeath, because we hadn’t had breakfast this morning. I started munching on chips, and then mixed nuts. I know I looked at a cinnamon roll, and a pickled egg too, but I passed on both of them,  and it was not easy, but I didn’t eat either thing. So I’ve had coffee (200), then a lot of water, then mixed nuts(400), chips (300)=(900) Oh, and I had some shrimp stir fry, a very little bit , it’s mostly rice (300). =1200 so far today.

Mama and Daddy came in a little later, and I was napping in the chair, cause there wasn’t nothing else I could really do right then, cause the phones weren’t ringing off the hook. They had all the way from Holly Ridge to the MS river, up to Oak Grove up, back up and running, all of the South up and running, and the only things they had left really was 3 or 4 more towers to do.

Mama decided to order lunch from Faye’s Burger Barn, but I had already eaten so much chips and everything, that I decided to pass on that lunch. I was so dang sleepy, could barely hold my eyes open, and had been that way for the past hour. When I get sleepy, I usually eat trying to stay awake, and usually way overeat, in the hopes of not going to sleep. I should just turn in and go ahead and go to sleep, but I felt guilty for doing that, cause everyone else was working so hard. But my eye lids were closing on their own, so I laid down in the chair.

Mama came in, and everyone started talking, and I told her I didn’t want any lunch, so I went back to my old bedroom and slept for the next 3 hours.

I woke up to Brian talking on the phone, sounding stressed. It irritated me a little bit, cause I was just waking up, but I didn’t say anything, and made some coffee. There was no reason for me to be irritated, I knew, because he had been working very hard all day, getting people back up and running.

All I can say is thank goodness I didn’t eat that lunch, cause I would have eaten over 2000 calories today had I eaten it. I’m drinking coffee now, and Uncle Jay just came in, and now has to go back out again. Everybody’s dragging butt, but me, cause I had a nap.

I’m about to run to the bank and grocery store for Mama. She needs milk and half and half for the coffee. This mess I’m drinking now is Fat Free, and it don’t taste nearly as good as regular creamer. I might pick up some of that creamer in a can too, depending on how many calories is in it, cause I really think it’s got to be less. I might start using that instead. It tastes just as good, and isn’t as heavy.

I haven’t talked to Mama and Daddy about it yet, but I’m going to ask them if I can become their bill collector. You know, collect the payments that people are late on, or haven’t paid in a while. There hasn’t been a good time this morning to talk to them about it, but I’m hoping there will be a time today when there will be.  I did some collecting while I was at Delhi Glass, so I know that every business has to do it, and I do have some experience, and we need it done, so why don’t I do it?  I don’t mind keeping up with folks, and helping them get their bills paid. Most people want to keep a clean slate when they can, and not owe nobody, and intend on paying their bills, and I’m just going to help them along with their bill to us.

I’ve got to go put on some make up if I’m going in the grocery store, and even though I’ve had a shower, I look like pure hell. My hair air dried, and my bangs are getting long and are all a mess, my skin isn’t glowing this morning, because I didn’t exercise. I put on my light blue khakis today, and they are a lot looser, so I know I’m losing weight. With that I’m wearing one of Daniel’s old polos, gray with a navy stripe on the sleeves. I look like a tomboy. With a little makeup, I think I can pull it off. I think Im going to have to get a bobby pin and tack back my bangs though, because I hairsprayed them earlier this morning, and they’re still all over the place. But hey! At least I’m clean!

4:12pm

I’m back from Delhi, and spent a dang small fortune. I bought hair clips, rubber bands, coffee creamer, a candle for Mama, and some huge dog bones, milk, and half and half. Then I went and bought cigarettes and dip for Daddy and Brian, respectively.

As soon as I got back, I unloaded all the groceries, and Brian opened the door for me on the way in. I lit Mama’s candle, and cut all the tags off the clippies and put them in Mama’s bathroom drawer, so she’ll have them when she gets ready for them. Sambo and Charlie are going to be really happy tonight, with these new dog bones. Brian doesn’t know I got them yet, so he’s going to be happy too, cause he’s been wanting to get them some ever since Mama got one for Duke a while back.

Chris Blaylock has been climbing our towers today, and he really did a good job, especially since this was his first time. He’s also been building Daddy’s building outside, and eventually will fix some of the siding on our edges of our roof. Funds ran out on the building, but my Daddy and Mama are so generous, that they were going to spend some more money to get our house fixed, regardless. Brian and I told them today, that they need to close in their building first, and that me and Brian will fix our house ourself when the time came, to go ahead and get their room done, cause they need it done, and Daddy definitely deserves it.

Uncle Jay just called it a day. He’s been out working all over the place today, and has had late days here lately.  Me and Brian are going to stay here with Daddy, and hopefully he’ll teach us a thing or two, if we are lucky. Mama and Chris just left to go fix the Start tower, and won’t be back until around 7 or so.  Brian knows we aren’t leaving at 5, I already told him, so we’ll see how he reacts when we stay til 7.

I told Mama she needs a treadmill here, so I can walk on it while I wait during the day. When she gets one, that will work out perfectly for me.
